THE ARTWORK / ABOUT
Within
the machine.
AN ONGOING PRACTICE
A cog flung from society’s machinery becomes a point in the universe.
Epiphany Machine is an ongoing conceptual and performance artwork moving through images, sound, code and performance. Its central figure is a cog flung from society’s machinery: a part whose assigned purpose cannot contain everything it is. The departure opens a question about scale, belonging and the possibility of making a world otherwise.
The cog becomes a point in the universe. Every point contains an infinite set of omnipotent observers. Within each cog, that same infinite interior remains available. The work refuses the easy division between a powerful whole and an insignificant part: an apparent component can contain a universe, and that universe need not settle on a final sovereign viewpoint.
Here, the visitor inhabits an observer position. You can look, choose, intervene and preserve. Images offer thresholds and held worlds; the Observer Chamber makes attention an explicit act; the Foundry makes relationships between sources, laws, geometry and memory available to your hand. These are different modes of entering one premise, not separate stories pasted onto unrelated tools.
Glitch and morphing give the premise its working tension. A fracture exposes incompatible realities trying to share a surface. A transformation lets those realities negotiate another arrangement. The aim is not endless damage or compulsory harmony. It is a result with enough particularity to hold attention: a universe whose contradictions have become perceptible, even when they have not disappeared.
A finished image or passage of motion is a witness state. It can be shared, revisited and entered again; it does not drain the infinite set of further worlds. The machine continues beyond its visible edge, and the cog is never merely the role it was given. Look from another point. Change a law. Let a different universe answer.
